Backing-Up Plans

I was sitting at my desk, staring at the camera, putting off the moment I’d have to step outside and follow through.

The same thoughts kept circling: This is dumb. Nobody’s going to understand why this matters.

Sitting there felt safer than doing what I already knew I needed to do.

We keep doubting we can win because we measure the battle by what’s in our hands.

Most of us don’t even notice when it happens because measuring what we can see feels like the smart thing to do.

It feels good enough to delay what actually satisfies because thinking about the battle feels safer than stepping into it.

What’s your backup plan right now?

And the danger is… we assume we’ll deal with it later.

— Judges 7:16–22
