Have you calculated the cost lately? 🏗️

In Luke 14, Jesus doesn't use "marketing speak" to grow His following. He does the opposite. He talks about "hating" your own life, carrying a cross, and giving up every possession.

The heading for this section in my Bible actually says, “Discipleship Tested.”

Jesus uses the examples of a builder and a king to make one point: Don’t start what you aren’t willing to finish.

Following Jesus isn't a hobby or a weekend addition to our lives. It’s a total renovation. He wants more than our occasional 3-second prayers, spotty church attendance, and pre-school Bible reading—He wants our lives.

Today, let's ask ourselves: Are we holding anything back from the foundation He’s building?

What is one "possession" (physical or emotional) you’re finding it hard to surrender to Him today?

Luke 14:26–33 (NASB95) “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple... So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions."
