I ain’t going to no doctor!

I am not a doctor, but I took one look at the man’s arm and knew he needed to see one. In the weeks prior, an annual visit to the skin doctor had proved that he had basal cell carcinoma on his arm. He was unconvinced it was a big deal and sought help from an herbalist. The herbalist prescribed some sort of acid tincture to be applied for many days in a row.

My first encounter of this situation was during the aftermath of the “many days in a row.” What I saw was a 1 inch by 1 inch angry patch of raised, discolored, and leaking mess of what used to be the normal skin of his arm. My advice, go to the real doctor right now so they can help you.

Fortunately, he heeded my advise and the doctor was able to remove and repair the damaged tissue and remove the cancer which was still alive and well even after the acidic tincture had done whatever it did.

We don’t want to go to the doctor for many reasons: fear, anxiety, pride, and sometimes just plain hard-headedness.

Jesus knew this and went to the sick who needed a physician yet wouldn’t come to Him on their own. This is what he tried to teach those who doubted Him in Mark 2:17.

I still see Jesus go to those who would not come to Him. Matter of fact, I represent that population myself and am eternally thankful for His willingness to approach this hard-headed country boy and offer His healing.

If Jesus, the Great Physician, comes to you today, I encourage you to trust in Him.

Give Him your life, let Him heal your sins and heart, and follow Him. It ain’t easy and your life will likely be more difficult, but you will no longer struggle alone and for no purpose.
