I was listening to God this morning (reading His Word), and I feel like He wants me to share something about darkness and light with someone today…

Back in elementary school, my class took a field trip to Rickwood Caverns, a state park in Hayden, Alabama built around a big cave in the ground. The point of the trip was to explore the cave, learn about underground life, and see the stalagmites.
I don’t remember much about the facts or formations, but I’ll never forget one moment. We had been walking down, down, down when the tour guide stopped. After everyone gathered in this large, cool, damp room, he turned off the lights—total darkness.
I had been in the dark before, but not like that. I couldn’t see my own hand in front of my face, and something deep inside me wanted out. I wanted the lights back on. I wanted to see.
Jesus talked a lot about light and darkness. He said He is the Light of the world. Those who believe in Him walk in His light; those who don’t are left in total darkness.
I believe in Jesus, have His Light, and experience it every day. But this morning, I wondered if I’ve started to take that for granted. I wondered if I’ve forgotten how much I once wanted out of the darkness of a life without Him.
So I’m writing this for someone who’s living in that darkness right now. Your daily life feels like standing in that cave after the lights went out. Jesus wants to turn the lights on for you. He wants you to believe in Him so He can fill your life with a Light that will never go out.
John 12:46 — “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”
If you’re ready to believe in Jesus today, talk to Him in prayer. Tell Him you believe in who He is and what He’s done. Ask Him to forgive your sins, to be the Lord of your life, and to give you His Holy Spirit so you can follow Him.
I pray you’ll make that decision and step out of the darkness today.
And for those already walking in the Light of Jesus—don’t forget how good we have it! Let’s share the way to the Light with others so they can be delivered from the darkness too.
