Labor is good?

For more years than I care to admit, my mind was fixed on retiring from work.
I chose my first job for one reason: I could retire after 25 years.
The work itself was honest.
It helped people.
But I found no personal joy in the labor.
If I’m being honest, I was in a bad place—mentally and physically.
I probably represented myself poorly more than I ever realized.
Not intentionally.
But still not good.
Fast forward several years.
I’m now in a place where I rarely think about retirement.
Why? Because I enjoy my labor each day.
That change helped me finally understand Ecclesiastes 2:24:
“There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This also I have seen, that it is from the hand of God.”
I didn’t just understand that verse—I began to agree with it.
If you don’t agree with it today, I understand.
I’ve been there too.
But I want to offer you hope.
If God can bring me from resenting a passage of Scripture to appreciating it, I know He can help you too.
And if this feels like it was written for you, know that I’ve prayed for you.
Enjoy your labor today.
It is from the hand of God.
