Someone mocked the Bible on my channel yesterday

You know what we can do? We can humiliate em’!—and that thought flashed through my mind.

Do unto others, right…he tried to humiliate me, so maybe he wants the same in return. (fleshly temptation)

Yesterday, someone left a comment on my confession video about me misusing Scripture to prove my point. Basically, the comment said, “Be careful, you never want to misquote your myth.”

I didn’t ask the guy, but I figure he was trying to humiliate me by calling the Bible a myth. It did not make me mad, but it also did not produce a positive emotion either. I wanted to defend and retaliate with humiliation. You know, how can I make him mad by slandering something he cares about?

This morning, my daily devotion contained Luke 23:8-12:

8 Now Herod was very glad when he saw Jesus; for he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about Him and was hoping to see some sign performed by Him.
9 And he questioned Him at some length; but He answered him nothing.
10 And the chief priests and the scribes were standing there, accusing Him vehemently.
11 And Herod with his soldiers, after treating Him with contempt and mocking Him, dressed Him in a gorgeous robe and sent Him back to Pilate.
12 Now Herod and Pilate became friends with one another that very day; for before they had been enemies with each other.

Herod, the chief priests, scribes, and soldiers were all seeking to humiliate Jesus in this passage.

What did Jesus do?

When questioned…He answered them nothing.

When adorned with a robe and mocked…He did nothing.

This is one of those moments where it’s real easy to see the difference between my sinful self and Jesus. How did He do it? How did He endure this humiliation? (Isaiah 53:7, 1 Peter 2:23)

This is God in flesh! Equipped with the power to do anything He wishes!

My takeaways this morning:

Jesus really loves us

Refrain from humiliating others when they humiliate you

I am gonna need a lot of help.

Today, we can pray something like: “Lord, teach us to answer insult with grace, just as You did.”
