You don’t have to keep failing

Some of you are stuck in the same cycle.

You fall short.
You promise you’ll do better.
Then you fall again.

You love Jesus — but you keep denying Him in your thoughts, your words, or your actions. And you’re tired of it.

Peter knew that feeling.

In Mark 14, Jesus tells His disciples that they will fall away. Peter boldly speaks up and insists he will never deny Christ. He is confident. Strong. Certain.

But later that same night, in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus invites Peter to pray.

Instead of praying, Peter sleeps.

And before the sun rises, Peter denies Jesus three times.

Jesus prayed.
Peter slept.

Jesus had warned them in Mark 14:38,
“Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Peter did not lack love for Jesus. He lacked prayer.

He was not strengthened by time with the Father — and when pressure came, he collapsed.

Could it be that some of our failures are not due to lack of desire…but lack of prayer?

Being a “doer,” stopping to pray can feel difficult and even unnecessary. But the more I read Scripture, the more I see that strength is not self-generated — it is received.

If you are tired of falling short, do what Peter failed to do.

Stop right now.

Ask God for strength before the temptation comes.

“Jesus, I need Your strength today. Go before me. Strengthen me so that I will not deny You in my thoughts, my speech, or my actions.”

You don’t have to keep failing.
But you do have to pray.
