In The Natural, Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) basically says, “I’m going to be the greatest.”
That line stirs something in all of us.
Because we want it too.
The seat.The title.The applause.
But then Jesus flips the table.
In Gospel of Mark 10:35–45, James and John ask for the top spots in the Kingdom.
Jesus doesn’t rebuke ambition.He redefines greatness:
“Whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.”
That’s not poetic.That’s violent to our pride.
The King came to serve.The Highest knelt.The Holy carried a cross.
You still want to be great?
Then go lower.
Find someone today who can’t repay you.Serve them.
That’s how greatness works in the Kingdom of God.
