Jesus Flipped Tables… So Can I!

Talk about rustling feathers.

Last week I posted a video where a boss fired an employee for not being 15 minutes early. The boss was unreasonable. The employee was furious. He was about to respond with violence — until the voice of Jesus reminded him of the unjust suffering He endured on the way to the cross.

And the comments came fast:“Jesus flipped tables.”“Righteous anger.”“Don’t forget the temple.”

Yes — Mark 11:15–18 is clear. Jesus flipped tables.

But look closer. The temple had been turned into a corrupt marketplace. This wasn’t wounded pride — it was corrupted worship.

There’s no record of Jesus physically hurting anyone. He overturned tables. He drove them out. But He didn’t punch someone because He felt disrespected.

We are very quick to baptize our temper as righteous. Most of the time, it’s just pride with a Bible verse attached.

If we’re going to point to Jesus flipping tables, we also have to point to Him silently enduring mockery, injustice, and the cross.

I’ve realized how easily I mistake my hurt feelings for holy anger. The difference is that Jesus’ anger always defended God’s honor — not His own ego.

Your turn:Are we confusing wounded pride with righteous anger?

Prayer: Lord, help me see my heart clearly. Teach me when to stand boldly for what’s right and when to stay silent in humility. Let my passion always reflect Your heart, not my pride. Amen.
